DIVISIONSGeneral InformationDivisions are two year age groupings. That is, the youngest child and the oldest child are no more than 2 years apart. To simplify this, we register players by their year of birth. The Tykes division, for instance, are children born in 2004 and 2005. You may want to have friends playing on the same team for transportation purposes, or just to be with their friends. As long as they are in the same age division, this is no problem. Just make sure the friend's name is clearly written on the registration form. Check with the other parent to make sure their child is in the same age division and day. Children in the same class at school may be in a different age divisions depending on when their birthday is. Occasionally parent wish to move their child to a different age division. We have no trouble with parents moving their child "up" and age division. For example, a Tyke age child playing in the Squirt division. But parents must accept that they will be playing against children who could be up to 4 years older. For some children this is not a problem. This is a parent's decision. We do not put children "down" an age division, however. This would mean that children in a younger age division would be playing against an older child and they do not have a choice in that. This is not fair to these children. In Girls Bantams and Boys PeeWee we have added a year to allow players to continue playing.
Mini-soccer DivisionsThe youngest children, born in 2000 to 2005 or 5 to 10 year olds, the Tykes (2004 and 2005), Squirts (2002 and 2003) and Atoms (2000 and 2001), play mini-soccer. For them the game is scaled down to fit their size. See the Mini-soccer pages for more information on the philosophy of mini-soccer. Follow the division name links for more information on each division. Condensed Rules for mini-soccer are at this link. Recreational Soccer DivisionsPlayers born in 1999 or earlier play regulation, 11-a -side soccer. The Mosquito division is mixed, but Boys and Girls PeeWees are separated. There is a huge growth in girl's soccer because, at this age, they want to play with their friends. The divisions are the Mosquitos (1998 and 1999), Boys Pee Wees (1995, 96and 97) Girls PeeWees (1995 and 1996), Girls Bantams (1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994). Follow the links for more information on these divisions.
