1. Can I register over the phone? Generally No! Registration is only by mail or on a registration day at Volunteer Pool. However, this year, if there is space in a division, registrations will be taken over the phone after April 1. Back to top. 2. Can I drop my forms off at the pool office at Volunteer Pool? No! The pool is a Parks and Rec facility. They have no connection to the soccer club. Leaving your forms at the pool could mean the form never gets to us. Mail them or bring them on a registration night. Back to top. 3. What is the deadline for registration? There is no real registration deadline. We have registered players after the season has started. The real problem comes if the division you are interested in is filled. Some divisions fill quickly. It is best to get your registration form in ASAP. You can call the club phone number at 343-0489 to see if there are expected to be spaces left if you are not able to register immediately. We may be able to hold a space under certain circumstances. Registrations received after April 5 must be paid in cash. Call 343-0489 for more information. Back to top. 4.Can my child play with a friend? Yes, we try to put friends on the same teams when requested. It is important to make sure the 2 players are actually in the same age division and wishing to play on the same day. Talk with the other parent or player to make sure the year of birth fits the division and the days match. Make sure the linked names are clearly written on the registration form. These things are the main reasons we can not link players together. Back to top. 5. Can my child play in an older or younger age group? Players can play up in the next older age group if you wish. You must remember there could be players almost 4 years older in that division if your child is born early in the younger year. You can make the decision. Players are rarely allowed to play down in the lower age division. (The only reason would be a physical or mental handicap that justifies such a change.) Playing down means that children in the younger age group would be playing against an older child and have no choice in the matter. We do not move players down. To help, we have have the youngest age groups ( 5 to 8 years old) at fields very close to each other. This helps with transportation. Back to top. 6. My child is only 4. Can s/he play? Children who are 4 years old but born in 2003 are in the Tyke Division. Children who are 4 and born in 2004 may play in the Tykes Division if parents are comfortable with this. Remember, there will be children who are 6 years old in this division. It is our experience that a number of the younger children drop out after a while. However, some children are more aggressive and comfortable with the older children and are successful. Parents need to decide what is best for their child. Back to top. |
